View Full Version : 1/43 scale bodies from Toys R US!
Hello. Has anybody played with Toys R Us's, I think their called Super SLickers or something like that? They are a cheap, way cheap version of the Epoch's, but they have really nice bodies including some Fast and Furious bodies, some Mercedes, and even Mini Coopers. I'm thinking of going to Toys R US today and seeing if they have a Mini Cooper. I think it will fit the Epoch well especially after my modifications. Take a look, it might give us more optional bodies and perhaps wheels!
Hello again. I was at Toys R US yesterday after I wrote the new thread. Unfortunetly, Toys R US no longer sells the Super SLicks cars. They now have a 1/24 scale monster truck version. Perhaps Toys R US.com, or even ebay might have'm. Either way you find one, I think they will fit the Epochs.
Hello, here is a photo of the Super Slicks Mini Cooper I mentioned. I do beleive that with some mod's, this will fit the Epoch. I know it's the same scale, so it should be the same size.

Although they are both advertised as 1/43 scale, the Superslicks are a bit
smaller than the Epochs. (If Superslicks are closer to true 1/43 scale then Epochs are probably 1/40-1/42 scale) It would take a bit of surgery to make a Superslicks body fit on an Epoch chassis. The Epoch bodies are slightly wider and longer than the same Superslicks car body. The biggest challenge is the fact that the Epoch has a longer wheelbase than the Superslicks chassis. The Mini Cooper is the smallest Superslicks body I believe. You would probably have to cut it in half and extend it in the middle just to make it fit. However, I believe that it has been done before.
Really? I did not know that. Why not just extend or shorten the Epochs chassis? I am planning on doing an aftermarket kit for the Epoch. I was thinking of making a carbon fiber pan-chassis kit and aluminum upgrades for it. I'd like to use LBRC's twin motor upgrade package as part of the kit. I'm also thinking of designing inch-up wheels for it as well. I plan on offering these kits in various anodyzed aluminum colors such as red, blue, green, gold, silver, and purple. The kit will include the carbon fiber chassis "lower deck and upper deck that can be adjustable." aluminum tie-rod, aluminum knuckles, and aluminum inch-up wheels. I beleive the SuperSlick tires will work, but not sure till I try it out.
I plan on making one kit for myselfe for prototyping and testing. I'll post pics of it when it's made and if it generates enough interest, then I'll have more made. The kit will be named Epoch LightSpeed. Let me know what you all think.

Sounds interesting, we'd love to see your progress and eventual prototype.
Thank you. But be aware, it'll be a while for the pan chassis idea, and a bit longer while for the aluminum upgrades. I've got so many projects going on at the same time it's scary. Sad thing is, it's not enough! Always more toys to dream about!
I've been chatting with a person on Mini-ZRacer forum about an Epoch chassis kit, and he's almost done making his aluminum version. As soon as I get a hold of some carbon fiber, I'll start cutting my design.

That sounds great marq, any pictures of his aluminum version? Keep us posted please!
Thinking the same thing I bought a 2 pack (350z and skyline) for like $5.99 a few years ago. No real way to make them fit, too narrow as remember. They looked great thoug and the price was right. Good luck.
